Hi, I'm Stephen and I am the author of the Finance55 website. When I started my first personal pension scheme in my late 20s, I remember the pension advisor asking me when I wanted to retire. I said that I wanted to retire at 55. Whilst I wasn't thinking about this all the time through my working life (I focused more on my career and family!), I believe that it sat in the back of my mind and guided me throughout my life. Maybe it helped me think about paying my mortgage off a bit quicker, maybe it guided me on the amount of pension contribution I should make and maybe it helped me gain an interest in the concepts of compound interest and passive income. I hope that this site helps you to think about some of these things and helps you to plan for your own retirement, and to have the financial freedom to make that decision for yourself.
